A year ago, Edinburgh and Switzerland County combined for 91 points in a game that took four overtimes to finish.
On Friday, a total of 20 points were scored.
But it’s the way Switzerland County pulled out a 12-8 victory on the Lancers home field that made this game a classic for a second consecutive season.
The Pacers scored on a 5-yard touchdown on fourth down with only seven-tenths of a second remaining in the final quarter.
Edinburgh, which drops to 1-3 on the season, must now begin preparations as South Decatur pays a visit next week.
“I’m not disappointed in the effort,” Edinburgh coach Derrick Ball said. “You have to be proud we only gave up 12 points, but we also have to be disappointed that we only scored eight points.”
The Lancers trailed 6-0 at halftime, but took an 8-6 lead on Jacob Atha’s 8-yard run early in the third period. Atha also added the two-point conversion for Edinburgh.
