JENNINGS COUNTY — North Vernon police serving a search warrant in the 1000 block of County Road 115S arrested six people.
Officers served the warrant at 5:30 a.m. Monday with the search resulting in the discovery of a convicted felon in possession of several firearms, one of which was stolen, heroin and drug paraphernalia, said Sgt. Andrew Richmond, North Vernon Police Department spokesman.
Arrested were:
- Jeremy M. Jones, 40, North Vernon, violent felon in possession of a firearm, a Level 6 felony and maintaining a common nuisance, a Level 4 felony, released from the Jennings County Jail after posting $1,220 bond.
- Marshall T. Wilson, 31, North Vernon, possession of a controlled substance, Level 6 felony and visiting a common nuisance, Class B misdemeanor, held in the Jennings County Jail in lieu of $1,055 bond.
- Shelbi M. Phelps, 20, North Vernon, visiting a common nuisance, Class B misdemeanor, held in the Jennings County Jail in lieu of $1,210 bond.
- Seth A. Sharp, 26, North Vernon, visiting a common nuisance, Class B misdemeanor, held in the Jennings County Jail in lieu of $605 bond.
- Phillip McGuire, 40, North Vernon, visiting a common nuisance, Class B misdemeanor, held in the Jennings County Jail in lieu of $605 bond.
- Sommer Porter, 28, Columbus, visiting a common nuisance, Class B misdemeanor, released from the Jennings County Jail after posting $1,155 bond.

The investigation began when North Vernon officer Wes Thayer received information about possible criminal activity at a specific Jennings County address, Richmond said.
Assisted by the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department, officers seized five firearms from the residence. A small amount of heroin, syringes and drug paraphernalia were also found, Richmond said.
Sheriff’s department deputy Allen Ritchie and his partner, K-9 Vampir, and Richmond with K-9 Heros were utilized when the search warrant was served.
