COLUMBUS, Indiana — A Columbus pastor and his family came home from church to find their home burglarized and about $11,000 in valuables taken.
Justin White, pastor of First Christian Church, was preaching Sunday as thieves were ransacking much of his family’s home.
Thieves stole cash, jewelry, electronics, small appliances and even most of his young daughter’s piggy bank savings, White said.
They left her a quarter.
By Sunday evening, people began bringing their own children’s piggy bank savings to White’s eastside home.
White said the generosity has left him both emotional and grateful.
“But I am not that surprised,” he said. “I know the character of the people here.”
