Teen who allegedly crashed into house arrested

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies arrested the driver who is accused of hitting a house on south Jonesville Road and then fleeing the scene.

Ethen A. Robertson, 19, 3127 13th St., Columbus, was arrested at his home after the accident, which happened about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, deputies said. He is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail on charges of leaving the scene of an accident, operating a vehicle without ever receiving a license and a body attachment, jail officials said.

Deputies were called to 6154 S. Jonesville Road about an accident involving possible injuries.

Deputies Dane Duke and Jarod Aspenson were told the vehicle had struck a house and the driver fled on foot from the accident.

The Chevrolet passenger car caused extensive damage to the side of the residence and also hit a gas line there, deputies said. Vectren was called to take care of the gas line damage.

Later that day, Deputy Andrew Dougan received information that Robertson was involved and learned about the body attachment. Deputies then went to Robertson’s home and arrested him.

Robertson is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $350 bond, jail officials said.
