A local man was seriously injured after he was struck by a vehicle shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday near Marr Road and Pavilion Drive.
Columbus police said Robert S. Compton, 40, Columbus, was found unresponsive in the roadway.
Witnesses told police that Compton was walking east across Marr Road when he was nearly struck by a vehicle traveling south, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman. A short time later, Compton was struck by a vehicle driven by Keri L. Hobbs, 32, Columbus, who was driving north on Marr Road, Harris said.
Hobbs told police she did not see Compton until he was directly in front of her, Harris said.
Compton was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital with a serious head injury, Harris said.
He was later flown by medical helicopter to Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis where he is listed in critical condition, Harris said.
