East sweeps Greensburg
GREENSBURG — Columbus East went on the road and swept Greensburg Tuesday night. The Olympians rolled to a 130-48 win in the boys meet and a 111-65 victory the girls meet.
Austin Smith won the 50-yard freestyle (23.68 seconds) and 100 freestyle (52.32) to lead the East boys. Other winners for the Olympians were Derek Alexander in the 200 individual medley (2:21.32), DJ Rhodes in the diving competition (158.95), Chris Borowski in the 500 freestyle (5:33.28), Bryce Eckelman in the 100 backstroke (1:07.12) and Ryan Singer in the 100 breaststroke.
East also swept the 200 medley (1:57.36), 200 freestyle (1:41.05) and 400 freestyle (3:46.43) relays.
Annie Frazier led the girls with wins in the 200 IM (2:31.34) and 100 backstroke (1:08.72). Jennifer Utterback took the 200 freestyle (2:11.10), Cortney VanLiew captured the 50 freestyle (25.93), Becca Bryan won the diving (171.15), Whitley Eicher took the 100 butterfly (1:00.82) and Lizzy Frazier captured the 100 freestyle (59.64).
The Olympians also swept the 200 medley (2:00.41), 200 freestyle (1:54.31) and 400 freestyle (3:56.69) relays.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Stars stop Panthers
BEDFORD — Jennings County led by three at halftime, but Bedford North Lawrence rallied for a 77-68 Hoosier Hills Conference win.
Tyler Vogel led the Panthers (11-5, 2-2) with 20 points. Nick AmRhein added 15 points and six assists, and Chase Ketcham had 10 points an five steals.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Columbus Christian falls
MADISON — Columbus Christian outscored Madison Christian in the second half, but couldn’t overcome an eight-point halftime deficit in a 33-29 loss.
Grace Lorimor led the Crusaders (1-12) with nine points. Lauren Barker added eight.
Highlanders edge Panthers
NORTH VERNON — Floyd Central jumped out to a 16-4 lead after one quarter and held off a Jennings County charge to claim a 48-46 HHC win.
Sidney Gerkin led the Panthers (8-14, 2-5) with 15 points. Macy Roth added 11.
Edinburgh edges past Waldron
WALDRON — Allie Schooler scored 22 points to lead Edinburgh to a 63-59 Mid-Hoosier Conference win at Waldron.
Bri Howard added 14 points for the Lancers (8-13, 2-4), who led 36-24 at halftime.
Trinity tops South Decatur
GREENSBURG — Trinity Lutheran jumped out to a 31-12 halftime lead and went on to post a 60-34 win at South Decatur.
Abby Hackman led Trinity (10-13) with 18 points. Savannah Harweger added 13.
Stacy Fox scored 11 points to lead South Decatur (4-18).
