Seymour
Pearl Marshall, 82, of Seymour (formerly from Hayden), entered Heaven after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She passed away on January 31, 2017, at Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour. Pearl was born on September 27, 1934, to Claud and Lula Ingram in Olin, Kentucky. Pearl graduated from Hayden High School in 1954. She married Robert (Jake) Marshall in 1957 at the Hayden Baptist Church.
Pearl was a charter member of the Hayden Baptist Church where she taught two generations of children in Sunday School and Bible Class. She was a member of the Women’s Mission Circle, American Baptist Women and the Hayden Historical Museum. Pearl also enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, quilting, raising blueberries and spoiling Jake for 57 years. She loved the Lord, her church, her family and working for Arvin Industries in Columbus for 32 years. She also worked at Cummins in Columbus and GC Murphy in Seymour.
Pearl was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a sister, Beatrice Ingram. She is survived by three children, Alan (Kimberly) Marshall of Seymour, Marlene (Dave) White of Seymour and Randall (Brenda) Marshall of North Vernon; one brother, Vernon (Patricia) Ingram of Butlerville; seven grandchildren, Shawn (Courtney Knittel) Marshall of Indianapolis, Kimberly (Chris) Clegg of Seymour, Missy (Dave Newkirk) White of Seymour, Kellie (Todd) Barriger of North Vernon, Caitlin (Katie Layman-Schnepp) Dickman of Greenwood, Samuel Brewster of Hayden and Rebecca (Justin) Walsh of Wichita, Kansas; seven great-grandchildren, Christopher Clegg, Joshua Clegg, Alexa Walsh, Cora Marshall, Jo Barriger, Aric Barriger and Grant Dickman; one sister-in-law, Verda (Bill) Ruddick of Seymour; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Words to describe Pearl Marshall are hard-working, loving, dedicated, loyal, caring, generous, a Christian woman and always a shining example for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her extended family.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on February 6, 2017, at the Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service in North Vernon and from 9:30 a.m. to the time of the funeral service at the Hayden Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on February 7, 2017, at the church. The Reverend Mark Sorrels will officiate. Burial will be in the Hayden Cemetery.
