An all-terrain vehicle driver was arrested after Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a county residence about an accident.
Deputy Lt. Gary Myers was sent to County Road 250W, north of County Road 500N, at 3:48 p.m. Sunday about an ATV on its side with a male subject lying next to it, deputies said.
As Myers drove into a field approaching the victim, the individual — later identified as Gregory A. Simpson, 33, of Edinburgh — began pushing the ATV from the scene, deputies said.
Simpson then started the ATV and drove it south through the field as the deputy tried to stop him, deputies said. Simpson then left the ATV on foot before stopping outside the back of a residence in the area of 4100 W. County Road 500N, deputies said.
The owner of the home there advised Myers that the ATV belonged to him, deputies said.
Simpson was arrested on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement and a Bartholomew County warrant, deputies said. He is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $11,000 bond, deputies said.
