Richard Edward Stephens, 63, of Scipio, died at 10:39 p.m. Monday, June 19, 2017, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital Emergency Room.
Richard was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Bill Gerhard officiating. Family and friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to time of service Thursday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Mr. Stephens was born Sept. 19, 1953, in Columbus, to Truman and Maxine Smith Stephens.
Survivors include his mother, Maxine Stephens Hammond of Scipio; brothers, Ronald (Sheila) Stephens of Columbus, Dan (Debbie) Stephens of Columbus and Marty (Karen) Stephens of North Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Truman Stephens; brothers, Max D. and Jerry W. Stephens; and his step-father, Richard Hammond.
