Hope hopes to forge ahead tonight with Old-Fashioned holiday event

HOPE, Indiana — Organizers of the Old-Fashioned Independence Day celebration tonight in Hope are expecting the event to go ahead, despite an uncertain weather forecast.

The latest weather forecasts succest a 30 percent chance of precipitation at 5 p.m., when the event on the Hope Town Square is expected to start. The chance of rain increases for later in the evening, however.

“We’re still staying we’re going ahead,” said organizer Barb Johnson of the Yellow Trail Museum, which hosts the holiday event.

“Unless it gets dreadful,” she added.

The Banister Family Bluegrass Band will provide live music from the gazebo starting at 7:30 p.m.

The event is scheduled to end at 10 p.m. with a huge fireworks display over the downtown Hope area.
