The Independence Day holiday weekend is expected to be one of the busiest ever on Indiana highways and interstates, the Indiana Department of Transportation said.
Nationally, a record 44.2 million Americans were expected to travel this weekend — with 85 percent of them driving to their destinations, the department said.
A roadwork moratorium is in place across the state through the Tuesday holiday, but motorists are being alerted to lane shifts or reductions in place.
For example:
The I-65 South ramp to I-465 East is closed for bridge construction on the south side of Indianapolis.
The I-465 loop ramp to I-65 North is closed for bridge constructions, also on the south side of Indianapolis.
I-65 south is reduced to two lanes across I-465.
