Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a local man after they were called to East 25th Street about a man walking in the middle of the road.
Deputy Jon Lanning was sent to the area near Bush’s Market at 1:43 a.m. Sunday where he found Jacob Dale Rice, 34, 2937 Scotland Drive, Columbus, walking in the eastbound lane, deputies said. Rice then ran from the deputy toward the Talley Square addition where he was caught and arrested.
A set of keys belonging to a recently recovered stolen vehicle was found when Rice was searched, deputies said.
Rice was arrested on preliminary charges of a Bartholomew County warrant, auto theft/receiving stolen auto parts and resisting law enforcement, deputies said.
Rice is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail without bond, jail officials said.
