Services and studies

St. Paul Lutheran — Pastor Doug Bauman will deliver the message, “Treasure Hunting,” at the 8 and 10:45 a.m. services Sunday at the church, 6045 E. State St., Columbus. Scripture will include Matthew 13:44-52. Members of the 9:30 a.m. Bible class will share historic items related to books of faith. The public is invited to attend.

Westside Community Church — Pastor Dennis Aud will lead the service at 10 a.m. Sunday at the church at the corner of State Road 46W and Tipton Lake Boulevard. His message will be “Keeping Faith Simple: Version 2.0” from Galatians 3:10-14. The children’s program for youth through grade 6 will meet at the same time.

An ice cream social will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the church, with ice cream and other desserts and lawn games.

A six-week women’s small group meets at the church from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Wednesdays, led by Barbara Gardner. No book needed, just bring your Bible.

First Baptist — The Rev. Dan Cash will deliver the message, “Growing Young: Loving & Shaping Our World,” with Scripture from Leviticus 19:1-18 during the 9:30 a.m. service Sunday at the church, 3300 Fairlawn Drive. Music worship will be led by a quartet. Childcare is available for infants. Older children will remain during the service.

Classes for all ages will begin at 10:45 a.m. following Coffee Fellowship. Children will discuss the “Parable of the Talents” with Scripture from Matthew 25:14-30.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

The annual hospitality table will offer snacks and drinks from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday across the street from Richards Elementary School, 3311 Fairlawn Drive.

The Men of Faith Bible Study will resume at 6:15 a.m. Friday in the private dining room of Four Seasons Retirement Community, 1901 Taylor Road. The study will be led by Bill Griffith and Pastor Cash. All men of the church and community are welcome. Study guides are available at the church Welcome Center or office.

Old Union United Church of Christ — Pastor Kirby Rupp will deliver the message, “A Spiritual ‘Aha!’ Moment,” during the 10 a.m. service Sunday at the church, 12703 N. County Road 50W, Edinburgh. Scripture will include Genesis 29:15-28, Romans 8:26-39 and Matthew 13:31-33, 44-52. Sunday school will meet at 9 a.m. and Fellowship is at 9:40 a.m.

First Christian — Come and meet Steve and Cindy Yeaton from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Fellowship Hall of the church, 531 Fifth St. Steve Yeaton is the new senior minister of the church. Use the Lafayette Street or courtyard entrance to the building.

First Presbyterian — The sermon will be “A Little Goes a Long Way” at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the church, 512 Seventh St. Scripture will include Matthew 13:31-33 and 44-52. The church’s band, Livin’ by Faith, will lead the congregation in worship. Infant and toddler care is available from 9:15 to 11 a.m.

The Men’s and Women’s Support groups meet at 7 a.m. on Fridays, and a second Men’s Support group for working-age men meets at 6:15 a.m. every Monday.

People in need of a meal are invited to the Hot Meals program offered at 5 p.m. on Fridays, with entrance through the glass door on Franklin Street.

Flintwood Wesleyan — Sunday, Amplify (non-traditional) at 9 a.m. and The Well (traditional) at 11 a.m. will be held in the main sanctuary, 5300 E. 25th St., led by Pastor Wes Jones on his series, “Stories of the Bible.” The Prayer Team will meet at 8 a.m. and Sunday School classes meet at 10 a.m. in their regular rooms. The evening service will begin at 6 p.m.

Prayer Team will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday and Adult Bible Study will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, both in the sanctuary.

Petersville United Methodist — The Rev. Stormy Scherer-Berry will give the message, “Uganda Fruit,” at the 9 a.m. service at the church, 2781 N. County Road 500E. Scripture will be from Psalm 128 and Scherer-Berry will share “God Sighting” stories from her mission trip to Uganda. Teresa Covert will give the children’s sermon. A time of fellowship will follow the service.

The walking group will meet at 9 a.m. Monday and Wednesday at the church, and the prayer group will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday, also at the church.

The Fruitful Congregation Journey Team will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 9 to discuss a discipleship plan.

East Columbus United Methodist — Sunday morning fellowship time begins at 9 a.m. with beverages and light snacks in the foyer of the church, 2439 Indiana Ave. in Columbus.

Singer Darla McFadden will perform during the 9:30 a.m. worship service. In her 26 years of ministry, she has sung nationwide.

The Sunday Evening Chapel Service begins at 6 p.m.

Tuesday Bible Study will meet at 1 p.m .in the chapel. Wednesday Evening Bible Study will meet at 7 p.m. in the chapel.

Music

Lowell General Baptist — There will be a hymn sing at 7 p.m. Aug. 5 at the church, 200 W. Southline Drive. Featured singers include The Trinity Gospel Aires from Campbellsville, Kentucky.

Flintwood Wesleyan — The first day of GLOW, formerly JAM, will begin Aug. 9 with supper served at 5:30 p.m. at the church, 5300 E. 25th St. The monthly Senior Adult Ministry luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 10.
