Jenny’s picks – August 3

  1. See musical talent showcased during FRIDAYS@FIRST, First United Methodist Church Sanctuary, 618 Eighth St., Columbus. Scheduled for 7 p.m. Aug. 4 is the Young Artists Concert, featuring trumpeter Caleb Bray. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
  2. My father is a gentle and kind man of many talents. Sadly, styling hair was not among those talents, although, true story, back in the 1970s he tried to chemically relax his hair. He fried it off in the process, but that’s a story for another time. Fathers, learn from my father’s failures at coiffing. Save your children from bummer braids and pitiful ponytails. Get a lesson at Daddy Daughter Hair Time with Grateful Dad Braids, 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hope Branch Library, 635 Harrison St. in Hope. The hour-long class will focus on simple hairstyles and is limited to 15 dads and daughters. Get your reservation in at mybcpl.org.
