3 arrested on drug-related charges

NORTH VERNON — Three people were arrested after North Vernon Police Department officers served a search warrant in the 300 block of Laurel Street.

According to Sgt. Andrew Richmond, department spokesman, the individuals arrested were:

Shey M. Richardson, 25, North Vernon, on charges of felony dealing in a controlled substance, felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of a syringe, legend drug violation, possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Zachary Perry, 26, North Vernon, on a misdemeanor charge of visiting a common nuisance.

Alicia Jones, 23, North Vernon, also on a misdemeanor charge of visiting a common nuisance.

Officers Anthony Bagby, Shane Trepanier and Richmond had received information about a recent drug transaction at the Laurel Street home, a department news release said.

When serving the search warrant, officers confiscated 5 grams of heroin, about a half a gram of methamphetamine, multiple syringes, several glass smoking pipes, three sets of digital scales, small plastic bags, multiple medication bottles containing controlled medications not matching the labels and $448 in cash, Richmond said.

Richardson is being held in the Jennings County Jail in lieu of $2,605 bond, jail officials said. Jones is being held at the jail in lieu of $1,155 bond and Perry is being held in lieu of $605 bond, jail officials said.

Assisting were detective Nick Megal, officer Tiger Zamora and Jennings County Sheriff’s deputies.
