1) I love telling and hearing scary stories. It’s a chance for a pleasant case of the willies. If you do, too, head to Trick or Treat Tales, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Donner Center, 739 22nd St., Columbus. Crafts, games and snacks will be included. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Cost: $1 per person. No preregistration required.

2) Diwali is the annual Hindu festival; the day celebrates the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. Join your friends and neighbors for Diwali 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at The Commons, 300 Washington St. in Columbus. The festival will feature performances and music, craft activities such as lantern-making and candle-holder creation for both children and adults, art exhibition open to all artists, light lunch and snacks, and more. Admission: $12 and $15. Children 10 and younger admitted free.
