Columbus native Kristin Bishay was honored in Bloomington for her work as executive director of the Monroe County CASA program.

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteers advocate for children who are wards of the state, and serve as their representatives in court.

Bishay was recently named the Elaine Fuller CASA Program Director of the Year at the 2017 Indiana CASA State Conference at French Lick Resort.

Bishay became a CASA volunteer in 1996, and then transitioned to the role of Monroe County CASA’s office manager. In 2007 she became director and built up the program, which boasts more than 150 active volunteers.
