GIRLS SWIMMING

East third in New Albany Relays

NEW ALBANY — The Columbus East girls swimmers finished third in Tuesday night’s New Albany Relays.

Floyd Central edged Jeffersonville 74-72 for the title. The Olympians finished with 57 points.

Maggie Gregory and McKenna Downey led East with a second-place finish in the diving competition with 169.00 points.

Placing third for East were Cameron Kelley, Jennifer Utterback, Whitley Eicher and Lizzy Frazier in the 200 medley relay; Frazier, Utterback, Quinn Phillips and Eicher in the 400 medley relay; Marin Weineke, Frazier, Eicher and Utterback in the 250 crescendo relay; Cameron Kelly, Ellie Buntin, Emie Kiser and Phillips in the 200 backstroke relay; and Morgan Meier, Kyra Moffitt, Lily Shelp and Weineke in the 200 breaststroke relay

South Decatur falls

GREENSBURG — Class 2A No. 5 South Ripley ran out to a 17-2 lead after one quarter and went on to hand South Decatur a 64-21 loss.

Annie Gant and Taylor Best each scored six points to lead the Cougars (1-4). Madison Owens grabbed 10 rebounds, and Sierra Lang added nine.

Braves topple Trinity

SEYMOUR — Brownstown Central jumped out to a 23-11 halftime lead and held on for a 51-38 win at Class A No. 10 Trinity Lutheran.

Abby Hackman led the Cougars (2-1) with 12 points. Sydney Jaynes added 11, and Piper Acton had 10.
