Letter: Clock should be ticking to end daylight saving time

This is in response to those who are advocating changing to Central Time. Why in the world would you want to do that?

The problem is not being on Eastern Standard Time. The problem is Daylight Saving Time, which is a stupid practice that needs to be abolished. There is no logical reason to maintain this practice. It does not save anything. In fact, it is proven that the morning we spring forward we experience the greatest amount of heart attacks.

Do you not realize that if we go on Central Time but continue the practice of Daylight Savings Time, that you are right back on Eastern Time? That during the winter months it will be dark at 4 p.m.?

We have been on EST since 1961. It allows us a perfect ratio of daylight and nighttime hours.

Indiana should join five other states that are proposing abandoning DST. That is the sensible and most logical thing to do. Enough said.
