Nancy Carol (Underwood) Blair

BLOOMINGTON

Nancy C. Blair, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 11 at Hospice House in Bloomington.

Nancy was born on April 14, 1933 in Bloomington to the late Leslie and Nellie (Mercer) Underwood.

She was a lifelong resident of Bloomington where most of her 10 brothers and sisters also lived.

She was a 1951 graduate of BHS.

On August 22, 1954 she married Robert D. Blair. Together Bob and Nancy had two daughters, Cindy and Sara.

She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Blair Force and her husband David, of Columbus, and Sara Blair Anderson and husband Bob, of Bloomington. She has five grandchildren whom she adored: Brooke Anderson Hardin (David) of Lewisville, North Carolina, Blair Anderson Baugh (Kyle) and Blake Anderson, of Bloomington, Margy Force and Betsy Force of Columbus. She also had six great-grandchildren, Tully, Catcher, Ruby, Oliver and Lila Hardin of North Carolina, and Monroe Baugh of Bloomington. Last but not least, Nancy leaves behind her furry companion, Holly.

Other surviving family members are her brothers, Bob Underwood, John (Elaine) Underwood, and Chuck (Peggy) Underwood; sisters, are Rosalie Stevens of Iowa, Donna (Wilford) Acuff and Linda (Dick) Needy of Bloomington. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Bob, in 2009; also, sisters Charlotte (Red) King, Martha (Bud) Burns, Analie Clay, a brother, Bill Underwood; a brother-in-law, John Stevens, and a sister-in-law, Kathleen Underwood.

At Nancy’s request there will be no formal visitation.

A private graveside service will be held Thursday, March 22 for her family.
