COLUMBUS, Ind. — Two local residents died in a one-vehicle accident just before midnight Sunday on 25th Street in Columbus.
Jesse A. Tays, 52, and Eunice L. Tays, 53, were traveling eastbound on 25th Street near Taylor Road when their minivan left the roadway and hit a large tree, said Bartholomew County Coroner Clayton Nolting.
Jesse A. Tays died from blunt force trauma to his neck and upper chest and Eunice Tays died from blunt force to her lower chest and abdomen, Nolting said. The couple was not wearing seat belts, he said.
The coroner’s office is seeking toxicology reports on the victims which will be done in two to three weeks, he said.
