Local man accused of pointing loaded shotgun at guests

A local man is accused of pointing a loaded firearm at people inside his residence after Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies received a domestic violence call from his address.

Deputies were sent to 3565 N. County Road 250W at 1:41 a.m. Monday after a caller who left the residence said that Brian Titara, 37, was pointing a shotgun at people inside the home.

Deputy Jarod Aspenson detained Titara while deputies Nate Nichols and Duston Newland spoke by telephone to those who were inside the home, and with the help of Columbus police officers, assisted people leaving the home.

Evidence and witness statements indicated Titara had become irate before breaking several items, and then removing a shotgun from his gun cabinet and pointing it at people inside the home, deputies said.

Titara was arrested on preliminary charges of domestic violence in the presence of a minor, pointing a loaded firearm and intimidation with a deadly weapon, deputies said.

He was being held in the Bartholomew county Jail in lieu of $30,000 bond, jail officials said.
