Man accused of pointing firearm at people in home

A local man is accused of pointing a loaded firearm at people inside his residence.

After receiving a domestic-violence call, Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department deputies were sent to 3565 N. County Road 250W at 1:41 a.m. Monday after a caller who left the residence said that Brian Titara, 37, was pointing a shotgun at people inside the home.

Deputy Jarod Aspenson detained Titara while deputies Nate Nichols and Duston Newland spoke by telephone to people who were inside the home, deputies said. With the help of Columbus police officers, they assisted people leaving the home, they said.

Evidence and witness statements indicated Titara had become irate before breaking several items, and then removed a shotgun from his gun cabinet and pointed it at people inside the home, deputies said.

Titara was arrested on preliminary charges of domestic violence in the presence of a minor, pointing a loaded firearm and intimidation with a deadly weapon, deputies said.

He was being held in the Bartholomew county Jail in lieu of $30,000 bond, jail officials said.
