Six people were arrested Monday on drug-related charges by the Columbus/Bartholomew County Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team and Columbus Police Department officers. Investigators served a search warrant at 71 Reo St. as part of an investigation into drug dealing occurring at the residence, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman. Officers recovered marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, including syringes, corner cut bags, smoking pipes and a digital scale, Harris said. Detectives also found a syringe in the house that contained an unknown fluid, Harris said. The fluid was later tested using a handheld narcotics analyzer which confirmed the presence of a methamphetamine and fentanyl mixture.

Arrested were:

  • Amie J. Sparks, 41, Indianapolis, on charges of three counts of dealing in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of a syringe and possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Jeremy T. Calhoun, 27, Columbus, on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a syringe, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance
  • Vicky S. Leonard, 57, Columbus, on charges of possession of methamphetamine and visiting a common nuisance
  • Erica P. Cowan, 20, Columbus, on charge of maintaining a common nuisance.
  • Rana L. Franklin, 53, Columbus, on charge of maintaining a common nuisance.
  • The  Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department also arrested Mirian J. Alamo, 26, Columbus at a separate location on Monday. Alamo had a Bartholomew County warrant on one county of dealing in methamphetamine, Harris said.
