Wilma Earl Bishop, 91, of Commiskey, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison.
Born November 30, 1926, in Tennessee, Mrs. Bishop was the daughter of Earl and Rose Babbitt Copas. She married Bruce Edward Bishop on October 4, 1946, in Greenville. He preceded her in death on January 25, 2004.
Mrs. Bishop was a 1945 graduate of New Albany High School in New Albany. She worked as a training director for the Madison State Hospital in Madison for several years before retiring. She was a former member of Psi Iota Xi in Paris Crossing.
Mrs. Bishop enjoyed quilting, antiques, reading, watching NASCAR and college basketball and going to flea markets.
She is survived by her son, David (Nell) Bishop of Paris Crossing; sister, Helen Amer of Floyds Knobs; grandchildren, Joshua (Jessica) Bishop of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and Jessica (Darryl) Stewart of Joliet, Illinois; and great-grandchildren, Phoebe and Claire Bishop of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and Paris Stewart of Joliet, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Anthony E. Bishop; and a brother, Billy Copas.
A funeral service for Mrs. Bishop will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with the Rev. Roger Hearne officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at Horners Chapel Cemetery in Washington County, Indiana.
