Bartholomew County’s Purdue Extension office is offering a free homesteading skills workshop from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. April 21 at 783 S. Marr Road in Columbus.

Homesteading skills are intended to help with self-reliance with one’s property, according to Purdue Extension. The workshop will offers instruction in several skills, including:
- Home food preservation or water resources
- Renewable energy or permaculture systems
- Beekeeping (pending confirmation) or tree fruit
- Gardening and soils
Breakout sessions will enable participants to focus on topics of interest, or to split sessions with another member of their household.
Attendees may bring a lunch or buy one on-site.
