Free homesteading skills workshop slated at Purdue Extension office

Bartholomew County’s Purdue Extension office is offering a free homesteading skills workshop from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. April 21 at 783 S. Marr Road in Columbus.

The deadline to register is 4:30 p.m. Friday. Register online at eventbrite.com/e/homesteading-workshop-tickets-43458193627.

Homesteading skills are intended to help with self-reliance with one’s property, according to Purdue Extension. The workshop will offers instruction in several skills, including:

  • Home food preservation or water resources
  • Renewable energy or permaculture systems
  • Beekeeping (pending confirmation) or tree fruit
  • Gardening and soils

Breakout sessions will enable participants to focus on topics of interest, or to split sessions with another member of their household.

Attendees may bring a lunch or buy one on-site.
