Car crushed by semi on I-65 at Walesboro exit; drivers unhurt

COLUMBUS, Ind. — The driver of a passenger vehicle escaped injury after being caught underneath a semi tractor trailer and run over Sunday on Interstate 65 in Columbus, police said.

The accident near the Walesboro exit (64) was reported at 3:47 p.m., according to Bartholomew County 911 Emergency Operations Center posts on Twitter.

It was described as an accident with personal injury on the 911 log, but the driver of the passenger car — whose vehicle was crushed — refused treatment when an ambulance crew responded, said Lt. Matt Harris, spokesman for the Columbus Police Department.

The driver of the semi, who pulled off the interstate, was also unhurt, Harris said.
