Tree giveaway, 5 to 7 p.m., Community Building at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds, 750 W. County Road 200S in Columbus. To celebrate Arbor Day, the Bartholomew County Soil and Water Conservation District will give away about 1,200 trees on a first-come, first-served basis, with a limit of five trees per person. Types of tree that will be offered include white pine, black gum, Kentucky coffee, silky dogwood and persimmon.

Stockdogs workshop, Switzerland County. The workshop is intended to answer questions about what stockdogs can add to a farm livestock operation and training. Demonstrations will include dogs doing chores, such as gathering livestock, watching gates and moving livestock off feed bunks. Cost is $80 daily to work dogs with a clinician and $30 for auditing. Twilight Pasture Walk, 6:30 p.m., free, location disclosed when registering. Walk working pasture with NRCS grazing specialist Robert Zupancic. Discuss pasture management, weeds and herd health. The host farm raises beef cattle, but questions relative to any species of pastured livestock are welcome. Pond clinic, 4 to 6 p.m., free, location disclosed when registering. An opportunity to better understand how to manage a pond. Topics include invasive species, fish stocking and health aeration.
