Columbus police arrested a moped driver on drug-related charges near the intersection of 13th and California streets.
Officer Lukas Nibarger stopped the moped at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday for a minor violation, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman. Nibarger confirmed that the driver, Jeffrey T. Jessie, 52, of 342 S. Cherry St., had a suspended driver’s license, Harris said.
After Jessie was taken into custody, a search revealed that he had methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia concealed in his clothing, Harris said.
Jessie was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while suspended with a previous conviction, jail officials said.
