Two arrested after CPD officer spots stolen vehicle

Two local residents were arrested after a Columbus Police officer located them in a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

Officer Travis Harbaugh saw the stolen vehicle in the 6000 block of State Road 46 West at 10:15 p.m. Monday. The vehicle had been reported stolen on Monday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Harbaugh conducted a high risk traffic stop assisted by Bartholomew County sheriff’s deputies and Columbus Police Department detectives near County Road 250W and Lowell Road, Harris said.

The two occupants, Jayson D. Ackenback, 34, of 12481 E. 25th St., and Erica D. Burton, 34, of 3819 Longshore Drive, were arrested and taken to the Bartholomew County Jail, Harris said.

Burton was arrested on a preliminary charge of auto theft and Ackenback was arrested on a Bartholomew County warrant, jail officials said.
