We are in danger of forgetting that the Second Amendment reflects the need to be able to stand up against a government that wants total control and to eliminate those that do not believe in their ideas.
It is easy to make light of the need for gun control with regard for the safeguards of civil liberties, however, when invoked on behalf of the communist/progressives or liberals, history bears testimony that once the rights of liberty are eliminated, at first, one law at a time and then, in the end, without the potential for populace recourse, there is no ability to stop the overtaking of a populace.
Khrushchev believed that America could be overtaken without firing a shot by simply penetrating the government with communists, which is what is happening under the guise of progressivism.
The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution declares: “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” Then why are Democrats trying to infringe on this right?
This right, which reflects a universal and historical power of the people in a republic to resist tyranny, was not recognized in the Nazi Germany.
During the build up to World War II, Hitler assumed the presidency, allowing him the ability to rule by decree. Hitler then declared laws at will and there was no right of appeal for those arrested. The military pledged allegiance to Hitler and the citizenry was instructed to follow Hitler’s decrees.
The 1928 Firearms Law was utilized to identify the so-called enemies of the state, locate them, interview them, and subsequently confiscate their weapons. This eliminated private ownership of firearms from the majority of society. In April 1938, Jews were required to register their personal assets if valued at over 5,000 marks. Just a few months later, Jews were required to register at local police stations to receive identification cards. Everyone knows what happened to the Jewish population without any ability to resist.
You have to wonder if less government regulation or the willingness of citizens to stand up for their rights could have led to a different outcome in Germany and stopped the abilities of the Nazis to eliminate those that did not see things their way.
”The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History has proven that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing.” — Adolph Hitler
