North wins Conference Indiana Unified track title

INDIANAPOLIS — Columbus North won 12 of the 22 scored flights or heats Saturday to easily defend its Conference Indiana Unified track title.

The Bull Dogs racked up 160 points. Terre Haute South edged Bloomington North 108-107 for second.

Bailey Hester won the top flight in the long jump (18 feet, 9 inches) and the fast heat of the 100 meters (12.39 seconds). Ross Gill won the fast heat of the 400 (57.81).

Matt Boldrey (17-2½) and James Dwyer (9-2) won their flights of the long jump. Dalton Kirk (39-7) and Davin Greenlee (38-6) captured their flights in the shot put. Jackson Payne (12.81) and Alana Cook (16.31) won their heats of the 100, and Max Wilson (1:00.44) took his heat of the 400.

Marisol Castaneda, Tanner Johnson, Cook and Liz Tynan won the girls 4×100 relay (1:05.61). Josh Holley, Gill, Anthony Ashcroft and Boldrey took the boys 4×100 relay (53.78).

Noah Algee (41-5) and Devin Ashcroft (26-7) finished second in their flights of the shot. Anthony Ashcroft was finished second in his flight in the long jump (10-9), and Holley placed second in his heat of the 400 (1:05.11).

Olympians take third

Columbus East finished third, and Jennings County took fourth in the Hoosier Hills Conference meet. Because of a computer glitch, official scores and results will not be available until today or Monday.

Bedford North Lawrence won every event on its way to the team title. Floyd Central finished second.

East records sweep

BLOOMINGTON — Columbus East put up 27 runs and 31 hits in sweeping a doubleheader at Bloomington South, winning 7-6 in eight innings and 20-8.

Parker Harrison went 3 for 4 with a double and a home run, Drew Hasson and Alec Burnett each went 2 for 4 and Nash Murphy had a double and two RBIs in the opener. Burnett pitched the final 1 2/3 innings to pick up the win in relief of Hasson.

In the second game, the Olympians (9-5) scored nine runs in the seventh to break open a close game. Dalton Back went 3 for 4 with a double, a home run and seven RBIs; and Jonah Wichman went 3 for 5 with a double, a home run and three RBIs.

Hasson went 3 for 6 with a triple; Burnett went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs; Murphy went 2 for 4 and picked up the win in relief of Kaden Wise; Klayton Brummett went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and Cole Gilley went 2 for 5 with a home run.

Warriors edge Panthers

WHITELAND — Jennings County led 6-3 after five innings and 8-6 after 7½, but Whiteland scored two in the bottom of the eighth to tie it and one in the ninth to pull out a 9-8 win.

Josh Pettit went 3 for 3 with a double and a triple for the Panthers (2-10). Chase Reason went 2 for 4, and peyton Olds went 2 for 5 with two RBIs.

SOFTball

Jets roll against Cubs

HOPE — Class A No. 6 Hauser scored five times in the second inning and went on to post an 11-1, five-inning win against Madison.

Tessa Sims threw a six-hitter and did not allow an earned run for the Jets (10-2). Lauryn Starnes went 2 for 2 with three RBIs, Zoee Nading went 2 for 2, Katie Taylor went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and Mykenzie Ault and Leah Joyce each had two RBIs.

Eagles win in 13

NASHVILLE — Emma Summers struck out 18 and scored the winning run in the 13th inning to lead Brown County to a 3-2 win against Northview.

Summers, who pitched all 13 innings, led off the 13th with a single. She stole second, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Taylor Poling.

Allison Stogsdill went 3 for 6 with a double for the Eagles (10-2), who have won eight in a row. Aubrey Hollander and Kylie Herald each went 2 for 3.

Jennings splits pair

AVON — Jennings County split a doubleheader at Avon, winning 10-6 and falling 13-3 in six innings.

Madi Skinner went 3 for 4, and winning pitcher Karlee Madinger went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs in the opener. Haley Engelking went 2 for 3, Carissa Sabelhaus went 2 for 4 with a double and Lexi Brown and Gabby Mahoney each went 2 for 4.

In the second game, Engelking went 2 for 3 with a triple for the Panthers (8-6). Lexi Brown went 2 for 3.

GIRLS Tennis

Eagles win one of three

MUNCIE — Brown County went 1-2 in the Delta Invitational, falling to No. 11 Delta 5-0, beating the Delta JV 4-1 and losing to Muncie Burris 4-1.

Hallee Miller at No. 1 singles, Juila Williams at No. 2 singles and Cassidy Davis at No. 3 singles all went 1-2 for the Eagles (4-7). A combination of Jacey Ferguson, Baelyn Koester, Leah Tucker and Olivia Baughman went 1-2 at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.

Panthers go 2-1

AURORA — Jennings County won two of three matches to finish second in the South Dearborn Invitational. The Panthers beat South Dearborn and Lawrenceburg by 4-1 scores before falling to Lapel 3-2.

Hailey Brown at No. 2 singles and Ellie Hearne at No. 3 singles each went 3-0 for the Panthers (8-3). Maddy Hill and Callie Wilder at No. 1 dobubles and Courtney Lykins and Abigail DeCamp each went 2-1. Carmen Kopitzke, Sydney Carson and Abby Rowlett all went 0-1 at No. 1 singles.

Cougars finish 1-2

HANOVER — Trinity Lutheran went 1-2 in the Southern Conference Tournament, falling to Southwestern (Hanover) 5-0, beating Milan 5-0 and losing to Christian Academy of Inidana 4-1.

Cassidy Burnside and Katelyn Mensendiek went 2-1 at No. 2 doubles for the Cougars (4-5). Courtney Barker at No. 1 singles, Abby Schult at No. 2 singles, Lauren Voss at No. 3 singles and Lauren Fleetwood and Macey Prewitt at No. 1 doubles all went 1-2.

BOYS golf

Trinity takes third

SEYMOUR — Trinity Lutheran finished third with a 374 in its Cougar Invitational. Salem won with a 336, and Christian Academy of Indiana was second with a 367.

Noah Criswell led Trinity with an 89. Mark Shoemaker and Ryland Nierman each shot 94, Jacob Keith added a 97 and Josiah Foster had a 104.
