Letter: Wilson best choice for District 59 rep

From: Dean Layman

Columbus

In a crowded field of candidates for state representative, Lew Wilson stands out as man of honesty, experience and integrity.

I have known Lew since he took office in 2011. During that time I have found him to be hardworking and devoted to the needs of the county, as well as upholding his number one duty to the tax payers: ensuring that assessments are fair and equitable.

Since taking office, Lew’s leadership has resulted in on-time billing by rolling values to the auditor in a timely fashion. Last year, Bartholomew County was first in the state to send Form 11 assessment notices to the taxpayers.

Due to his organizational skills, the office is running more efficiently with fewer staff members.

Assessed values are more accurate, resulting in fewer appeals and less cost to the county.

Lew has called numerous meetings with community members to discuss changes in policy and to explain why values have changed. He does this prior to the change taking place so the taxpayer knows in advance and can be prepared for any changes to the assessed value of their property.

He makes himself available to answer any questions taxpayers may have regarding their assessed values.

Lew has a genuine concern for people and does his job with compassion, decency and sincerity. I urge everyone to vote Lew Wilson. He has the proven skills and experience to be a fine, trustworthy state representative.
