SHELBYVILLE — The Mid-Hoosier Conference track meet found a handful of local teams competing for conference bragging rights Tuesday night, and the Hauser girls found the most success by finishing in second with 118 1/2 points.
North Decatur won the girls meet with 158 points. South Decatur placed fifth with 62, and Edinburgh was seventh with 27.
On the boys side, the Jets came in third place with 102 points, while South Decatur was fifth with 50 and Edinburgh seventh with nine. Southwestern (Shelby) won with 142.
“I think that the girls did their very best,” Hauser girls coach April Dalton said. “We’re low on numbers, so it’s hard for us to win a meet when we only have one girl for some events, but they worked their hardest, and we had so many conference firsts.”

Grace Hasler put together an unforgettable performance for the Jets in winning three events. Grace Hasler won the 100- and 300-meter hurdle events for the fourth consecutive year at conference, breaking her own meet record in the latter at 47.10 seconds. Hasler also won the 100 in 13.18.
“It’s hard to kind of find anything to say except, I am really happy with it,” Hasler said. “My coach has always been great, and my parents are incredible. But afterwards, it felt really great, because that’s what I’ve been looking to accomplish this year is a time like that.”

“We had a lot of (personal records) tonight, which I was pleased with,” Hauser boys coach Ben Finke said. “That’s the best we have done in a really long time, and I’m just really happy with the way they have worked. From here on out, we will just keep getting better.”
