SELLERSBURG — No. 14-ranked Columbus North won all five matches in straight sets Saturday in closing the regular season with a 5-0 victory at Silver Creek.

Yijiang Zhao beat Anna Graves 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, Shweta Srinivasan blanked Shelby Renfro 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Jaline Tay downed Megan Himmelheber 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Bull Dogs (11-5).

North’s Madelyn Sanders and Eva Chevalier topped Chloie Yost and Zioe Zimmerman 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Ali Bergman and Servane Cloteaux beat Mady Hawkins and Madison Vallin 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

Hauser wins three spots

HOPE — Hauser won Mid-Hoosier Conference titles at three positions in the individual tournament.

Madie Sherman at No. 2 singles and Abby Johnson and Sarah Tedder at No. 1 doubles each won a pair of straight-set matches to claim titles. Melanie Taylor and Kylie Lock won both of their matches 6-0, 6-0 to claim the No. 2 doubles title.

Bull Dogs take 12th

LEBANON — Columbus North finished 12th with a 326 in Zionsville’s Sollman Invitational at The Trophy Club. Top-ranked Center Grove won with a 290.

Henry Kiel led the Bull Dogs with a 78. Drew Smith carded a 79, Jacob Niedebalski added an 83, Luke VanDeventer shot 86 and Jackson Kerber had an 89.

Jets third, Lancers fifth

GREENSBURG — Hauser finished third in the MHC Tournament at North Branch. Host North Decatur won with a 371, followed by Southwestern (Shelby) at 386, the Jets at 403, Morristown at 425 and Edinburgh at 492.

Hauser’s Justin Compton and Edinburgh’s Bladen Hancock each shot 82 to tie for third individually and earn All-Conference honors. Sam Johnson carded a 99 for the Jets, while Justin Stafford added a 110, Ethan Wallace had a 112 and Matt Sweet finished with a 116.

Darius Bennett carded a 129 for the Lancers. Zach Burton added a 134, and Noah Childers had a 147.

Eagles finish sixth

GOSPORT — Brown County finished sixth in the Western Indiana Conference Tournament with a 348 at Rolling Meadows. Greencastle won with a 298.

Parker VanNess finished second individually with an even-par 72 to lead the Eagles. Ben Rygiel carded an 84, Curtis Lookebill added a 94, Brendon Asher shot 98 and Peyton Proctor had a 113.

Jets fall to Austin

AUSTIN — Austin jumped out to a 5-1 lead after three innings and went on to hand Class A No. 1 Hauser an 8-3 loss.

Trey Johnson had two RBIs for the Jets (15-8).

Cougars edge Eagles

ELNORA — Brown County scored a run in the top of the seventh to tie it, but North Daviess pushed across a run in the bottom of the inning to claim a 4-3 victory.

Justin Partyka went 2 for 4 for the Cougars (6-14).

Jennings falls twice

NORTH VERNON — Class 4A No. 1 New Albany put up 35 runs and 35 hits in sweeping a doubleheader 22-0 in five innings and 13-3 at Jennings County.

The Panthers (2-17) were held to two hits in the opener and managed six in the second game. Jacob Kirby went 2 for 3 in that second contest.

Panthers split pair

SHELBYVILLE — Jennings County rallied from a 5-0 deficit to beat Shelbyville 9-7 before falling to 4A No. 8 Decatur Central 8-1 in the championship game of the Shelbyville Invitational.

Haley Engelking went 3 for 4 for the Panthers against Shelbyville. Katie Mahoney went 2 for 3, Madi Skinner went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, Gabby Mahoney went 2 for 4 with a double, winning pitcher Karlee Madinger went 2 for 4 and Lexi Brown went 2 for 5.

Jennings (11-10) managed only two hits and struck out 15 times against Decatur Central’s Karli Ricketts. Lexi Brown provided the Panthers’ lone run with a fourth-inning homer.
