The daughter of an Elizabethtown pastor has made the final four contestants of NBC’s “The Voice” show.
Kyla Jade, 33, daughter of the Rev. Mike Harris and stepdaughter of Secenia Harris of Faith, Hope and Love Church of God In Christ on Indiana 7, will sing again on Monday’s 8 p.m. live episode with the finals broadcast on Tuesday, according to the network.
Star pop singer Kelly Clarkson, one of the show’s coaches, acknowledged recently that she has become a fan of Jade’s.
Jade, who was born in Topeka, Kansas, lives in Nashville, Tennessee. She got her first big break in music when she joined the Nashville Super Choir on “Bobby Jones Gospel,” the longest-running gospel show on BET. After touring with that group for nine years, she became a backup singer for Jennifer Hudson.
On the show, she is part of Team Blake, under the guidance of country music star Blake Shelton. Jade’s recent songs have included a cover of The Beatles’ “Let It Be” and Aretha Franklin’s “Sweet Sweet Baby (Since You’ve Been Gone).”
She has toured with artists ranging from Patti Labelle to Wynonna Judd. She runs an entertainment company, Love Jade Inc.
