Deputies arrest driver after receiving call about a stolen vehicle

Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies arrested a local man after being sent to a call about a possible stolen vehicle in the 300 block of North Jackson Street.

Deputy Adam Warner went to the incident at 10:39 a.m. Sunday where he saw a vehicle on the side of the road and made contact with the driver, Nicholas L. Porter, 32, of 9074 N. Miami Ridge Road, deputies said. Warner found that Porter was wanted on a Bartholomew County warrant.

In addition to the warrant, Porter was arrested on a preliminary charge of auto theft/receiving stolen property and the vehicle was returned to its owner.

Porter was being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $57,500 bond, jail officials said.
