Local man arrested on multiple charges after disturbance

Staff Reports

Columbus police arrested a local man on multiple charges after being sent to a disturbance in the 1000 block of Phoenix Court.

Police went to a home there at 11:55 p.m. Saturday. After separating the feuding parties, officers later went to another disturbance in the area of Eighth and Cottage Avenue about a disturbance involving the same people, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

When officers arrived, they saw Tobias T. Jenkins, 20, of 1069 Phoenix Court, running toward them and screaming profanities, Harris said. The officers attempted to restrain Jenkins, but he attempted to pull away from them, Harris said.

Jenkins was placed under arrest. While searching him, officers detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, Harris said.

Jenkins was arrested on preliminary charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct, illegal consumption and resisting law enforcement, Bartholomew County Jail officials said. He was released on $14,500 bond, jail officials said.
