Obstacle course race at county park

The sixth annual Tame the Terrain Obstacle Course Race is planned for June 16 at Muscatatuck Park in North Vernon.

This year’s event will include a competitive race for pre-registered participants, with heats at 8 and 8:15 a.m. Additional races for adults and children ages 4 to 12 are planned, too.

The adult course includes 25 obstacles spread throughout the park, such as cliffs, mud pits, rocks to climb, trails to run.

Participants must be at least 13 years old to compete in the adult races.

Event committee member Chris Deyerling said the event is growing and had more than 700 participants last year.

The cost is $65 adults, plus an additional $10 to $20 to compete in the competitive heats. The cost for children is $20 before June 10, $25 the day of the race. T shirts will be included in the price for those who pre-register.

All proceeds from the race will be used for youth activities at St. Mary’s, St. Joseph’s and St. Ann’s churches in Jennings County.
