HOPE – Several events to raise money and awareness for the American Cancer Society have been scheduled for the town of Hope’s annual Relay For Life.
The fundraiser will be 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday in the Hope Town Square. Events planned include:
- 9:30 a.m. – Meteorologist Randy Ollis, who joined WISH-TV News in 1984 and announced he had Stage 1 cancer last July, will be the guest speaker.
- 11 a.m. – The Hartsville Fire Department will conduct a day-long fish fry until 7 p.m., with all proceeds going to Relay For Life.
- 11:30 a.m. – Registration begins for the Relay for Life motorcycle ride, which begins at 12:30 p.m.
- 5 p.m. – The Night Owl Country Band will perform.
- 9 p.m. – Luminaria ceremony, with each light representing a life taken by cancer, a survivor of the disease, or support for a person still fighting cancer.
A similar event will be held in Columbus on June 16 at the Donner Park Shelterhouse.
