Harrison College hosts open houses
Harrison College’s Columbus campus will host two open houses.
They will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. June 13 and from 10 a.m. to noon June 16. Individuals will have the opportunity to learn about degree programs, curriculum, flexible learning formats and more, according to the college.

Student receives scholarship
A Columbus native attending Wheaton College recently received the Dr. H. William Nordin voice scholarship.
Abigail Beerwart received the scholarship from the Conservatory of Music during Wheaton College’s honors convocation ceremony. The scholarship is awarded to a current sophomore or junior vocal studies major based on a competition.
Beerwart was also named as the Leslie C. & Lillian A. Schultheis Scholarship Fund Concerto Competition area winner. The prize is awarded to four area winners of the Concerto Competition: piano, voice, woodwind-percussion and strings.
Area winners compete for a grand prize and are given an opportunity to perform on campus, according to Wheaton College.
Two graduate from DePauw University
Two Columbus natives have graduated from DePauw University.
Benjamin Davis and Keaton Voegerl were among 473 students who graduated from the university on May 20.
Student recognized for academics
A Columbus native attending Wittenburg University was recently recognized for academic excellence.
Karen Wildemann was recognized during the university’s honor convocation April 7, where she was named the recipient of the Dr. Woodrow Wilson Prize for Excellence in Business and Ezra Keller scholarship.
Ivy Tech honors adjunct faculty members
An adjunct faculty member from Ivy Tech Community College’s Columbus campus is among 19 individuals across the state who received an award for their work.
Andrew Strawn, a mathematics instructor, received the adjunct faculty award for excellence in instruction for the Columbus campus.

Local student graduates from college
A Columbus native recently graduated from Heidelberg University.
Emily Nolting graduated magna cum laude May 13 from the university with a bachelor of science degree in business administration and economics. She represented the class of 2018 as the undergraduate student speaker.
