Centra awards scholarships to local students

Six Bartholomew County high school students and one adult are among the 25 recipients of scholarships from the Centra Foundation this year.

The foundation awarded a $2,500 high school scholarship for each Centra location, plus two $2,500 adult scholarships through the Loretta M. Burd Scholarship program for the 2018-2019 academic year.

The local winners were:

Columbus East High School: Elizabeth Frazier, Tanner Stevens

Columbus North High School: Kaitlyn Niebrugge, Kyla Foley, Peyton Pike

Hauser High School: Grace Hasler

Adult: Nicholas Satterfield (Columbus)

A total of 138 applications were received for the scholarships, which can be used on expenses such as tuition, books and fees. Winners were selected based on involvement in their local communities, academic performance and an essay about financial literacy.

Centra Foundation is the charitable arm of Centra Credit Union.
