Tyler Duncan is beating Tiger Woods, and he’s tied with Phil Mickelson after the first round of the U.S. Open, but he’ll likely have to play better today to make the cut to the final two rounds.
Duncan, a 2008 Columbus North graduate, carded a 7-over-par 77 in Thursday’s opening round at Shinnecock Hills. That puts him in a tie for 87th place, eight shots back of four players tied for the lead at 1-under 69.
Duncan has a 12:52 p.m. tee time for today’s second round.
