Marian Liliac was born October 5, 1968, in Urziceni, Romania, the loving son of Marin Liliac and Victoria Popa Liliac.

Marian had worked and studied at many universities including the Politehnica University in Bucharest, Romania where he taught engineering while working for his first PhD; the Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan where he taught science of materials while working on his second PhD, and where he worked on projects to develop new technologies for Japanese companies; and the University of Alabama where he taught, researched, and worked on projects for NASA.

Marian had a long career with Cummins where he held many positions and received numerous rewards and was most recently the Global VPI Reliability Leader of Cummins Emissions Solutions.

Marian had many interests and hobbies including, building and flying remote control planes, developing and building salt water fish tanks for exotic fish, aeronautics, history, science, computer science and computer programming.

Marian had a passion for research and reading and had considerable knowledge about many things in life.

Marian always had a positive attitude in life and could light up any room he would walk in and was able to make everyone feel special and comfortable.

Even though Marian was smart and successful, he always remained humble in life and was the most amazing person and was adored by his wife, daughter, and parents.

The world will be a little less beautiful without Marian in it.

Marian is survived by his loving wife of nearly 22 years, Irene Barbulescu Liliac, whom he married July 5, 1996; the apple of his eye, his daughter, Isabella, of Columbus; his parents, Marin and Victoria of Romania; a close cousin, Cornelia Stanescu of Romania; and several aunts, uncles and cousins in Romania.

The funeral service will be conducted at noon Saturday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Priest Dragan Petrovic and the Rev. Dr. Silviu Bunta officiating.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions may be made to the Isabella Liliac Scholarship Fund (Please make checks to Irene Liliac) or the National Brain Tumor Society at braintumor.org, or cards are available at the funeral home.
