North Vernon police arrest man after treating him for overdose

NORTH VERNON — North Vernon police arrested a man on drug-related charges after they were called to a possible overdose in the 1100 block of North State Street.

When police arrived at 1:30 p.m. June 12, they found a man, identified as Jonathon L. Noel, 33, North Vernon, slumped over in a vehicle in the parking lot, said Sgt. Andrew Richmond, North Vernon Police Department spokesman.

As officers were giving Noel first aid, which included administering naloxone, they found drug paraphernalia in plain view in the vehicle, Richmond said.

Paramedics took over Noel’s medical treatment and officers searched the vehicle based on the paraphernalia already found, Richmond said. They found three syringes, one filled with a clear liquid, a small amount of marijuana, a digital scale and more than 5 grams of methamphetamine inside the vehicle, Richmond said.

Noel was taken to St. Vincent Jennings Hospital and was later arrested on charges of dealing in methamphetamine, possession of a syringe and possession of paraphernalia.
