John and Gert McGovern of Columbus are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. In December, the couple took a cruise to the Bahamas with their entire family to celebrate.
Mr. McGovern and his wife, the former Gert Reinhardt, were married June 8, 1968 in Portsmouth, Ohio, by Msgr. Rubeck.
He is retired from Cummins.
She is a homemaker and is also retired.

They have four children, Melissa (Eric) Neal of Columbus, Elizabeth (Chad) Swearingen of Indianapolis, Rebecca (Brett) Merritt of Columbus and Sarah McGovern of Columbus; and nine grandchildren.
