Irvin Delmer Watson, age 95, of Scipio, passed away Sunday June 24, 2018, at his home.
He was born May 21, 1923, in Gilpin, Kentucky, to the late James Estel and Lora Belle (Gilpin) Watson.
He married Margie L. Huffaker on August 26, 1950, in Jamestown, Kentucky, and she preceded him in death on November 1, 2006.
Irvin proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the North Vernon Church of Christ and was retired from the shipping and receiving department of Arvin Industries following 41.5 years of service.
Irvin enjoyed country life farming and raising cattle.
Two of his favorite things to say were, “do the best with what you got” and “can’t beat that with a stick.”
His dog, Bubba, was a true man’s best friend and he so enjoyed hunting with that dog. Irvin truly had a good day when he was out fishing with one of his children.
The greatest thing in his life was his faith and he showed that continually each day of his life.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2018, in the Bear Creek Cemetery, 3945 W. County Road 1000N, Westport, with Tom Horton officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard at the cemetery.
Irvin will be laid to rest next to his wife Margie following the ceremony. There will be no visitation times.

Irvin is survived by two sons, Grant (Lee-Anna) Watson of Columbus and Steve (Sally) Watson of Scipio, and a daughter, Tammy (John) Davis of Elizabethtown. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Daniel (Kelly) Watson, Suzy (Pierick) Smith, Anna-Liese Watson, Josh (Alysha) Davis, Keane (Heather) Davis, Maria Chickedantz, Carla Chickedantz, Charlie Chickedantz; and five great-grandchildren, Emma and Andrew Watson, Hank and Sloane Smith and Jonah Davis.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two brothers, Othel and Cranston Watson, and five sisters, Mattie Sawyer, Agnes Haste, Bonnie Nomas, Rose Paul and Eunice Watson.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
