North graduate nets five hits in first three games

Devin Mann’s professional baseball career is off to a fast start.

The 2015 Columbus North graduate and this year’s fifth-round draft pick by the Los Angeles Dodgers made his Class A debut with the Midland, Michigan-based Great Lakes Loons on Thursday. After going hitless on Thursday, Mann had three hits on Friday and two more on Saturday.

Mann, who previously went 1 for 5 in two Rookie League games in Arizona, was batting .357 (5 for 14) with the Loons going into Monday night’s game at the Dayton (Ohio) Dragons. The Loons play in Dayton again tonight and Wednesday.

Bull Dogs set to host football scrimmage

Columbus North will play its first of three home informal summer football scrimmages tonight on the brand new turf at Max Andress Field.

The Bull Dogs will host Lawrence North beginning at around 7 p.m. today. Columbus North also will host a scrimmage against Whiteland on July 10 and a three-way scrimmage with New Albany and Martinsville on July 17.
