Group decides not to pursue Victory church property for project

The Columbus Permanent Supportive Housing Project Team has decided not to pursue development of the old Victory Church location at 17th Street and Home Avenue as a facility to provide housing to the homeless.

In an announcement sent out at noon today, those working on the project said the size of the building became a barrier.

“After analyzing the engineering report commissioned by the team, and consulting with the architect to update cost estimates, it was determined there wasn’t sufficient funding to make the project financially viable at the old Victory Church location,” the press release stated.

The church was proposed to become Columbus’ first permanent supportive housing complex for the homeless, the group announced earlier this year.

A search for a new location for the proposed facility continues, organizers said.
