• the president and vice president for keeping us safe and helping all progress.

• President Trump for cutting taxes, which enables Duke Energy to reduce our electric bills by an average of 5.6 percent.

• the Daughters of the American Revolution for replacing the warn and tattered flag at the Methodist cemetery in Azalia.

• Mom, from Ariel.

• Erin for taking care of us, from Mom and Dad.

• Dr. Day and his staff for incredible kindness and caring.

• those for the Hope Fourth of July Bike Ride celebration and to the organizers who pass out treat bags to all who participated in the bike ride, thanks.

• folks at Lee Supply on National Road on Monday for helping me through a plumbing emergency, saving me a lot.

Onions to …

• people that can’t understand that if we’d do without $8 million flooded riverfronts and $2 million bridges here and there we would have enough money to asphalt every road instead of this blasted chip and seal.

• the letter writer of the Trumpitis/Penceitis letters, because it’s like a joke, it’s just not funny, and certainly not productive.

• the employer that thinks it’s OK to work employees 16 hours every day.

• people who support the president in the White House who is dividing instead of uniting our country.

• the business owner for letting her salaried employees take off a half day on July 3 but is making her hourly workers work.

• the guy with a barefooted and shirtless child going up to customers at Walmart asking for money because he claimed they were out of gas, when it was a scam.

• all the Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, independents and other political affiliations, because enough is enough.
